As the new Chair of the PGIT Board of Trustees, I look forward to continuing the strong leadership of retired Commissioner Benny Strickland.   His vision and support for a viable, financially secure alternative to public sector insurance coverage are the foundation for the tremendous success of the Trust.   Mr. Strickland served as Chair since the Trust’s inception in 1999, and shepherded its expansion from providing only Workers’ Compensation to offering a full range of Property and Casualty coverage.   My thanks to Commissioner Strickland for his work and dedication.

The Board welcomes Mr. Welton Cadwell, Chair of Lake-Sumter Emergency Medical Services, as a new Trustee.   A life-long resident of Florida, Chairman Cadwell serves on numerous public sector boards and authorities, such as Lake County Board of County Commissioners, East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, the Florida Corrections Commission, and the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, to name a few.   Mr. Cadwell is also President-Elect of the Florida Association of Counties.  

Your Board of Trustees looks forward to this new year and anticipates continued growth, expansion of coverage and services, and fulfillment of PGIT members’ expectations.   Thank you for continuing to support this program.
