As we enter our 9th year of operation, the Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust® (PGIT®) continues its steady growth and increasing visibility throughout Florida. With over 700 members and approximately $100 million in annualized premiums, your Board of Trustees is working hard to keep PGIT® as the premier public entity insurance program available in the state. We continue to accomplish this goal due to the diligent efforts of Public Risk Underwriters®, trust’s administrator, and Preferred Governmental Claim Solutions® (PGCS®), the claims administrator. Their experienced leadership and dedication allow PGIT to continue to provide you with both innovative and optimal insurance solutions.

The administrators and board have a shared vision of providing the membership with educational opportunities to network with one another in finding common solutions in managing the variety of insurance challenges each of us face.

ADMINISTRATION

Administration provided by Public Risk Underwriters®, the national public entity subsidiary of Brown & Brown, Inc. They have been serving governmental entities in Florida for the past decade on all lines of Property and Casualty insurance.

Governed by a board of elected public officials who are responsible for overall policymaking.

The Risk Advisory Board, comprised of risk management staff from the membership, provides a valuable resource for educational support and response to member feedback.

CLAIMS MANAGEMENT

PGIT® members benefit from the extensive public sector claims experience of Preferred Governmental Claim Solutions (PGCS). With over 40 years of claims experience, they provide the highest standard of quality in the industry. Emphasis on communication and return to work policies are the cornerstones of their claims administration program.

Claims can be called in seven days a week, twenty four hours a day to trained nurses who will direct the employee to the initial medical treatment facility.

Updated Information 12/04/2007: PGCS Partners with Summit Risk Services

PGCS Claims Services has partnered with Summit Risk Services to provide enhanced claims administration service to PGIT with regard to Public Entity Professional Liability Claims Management. Throughout the years Summit Risk Services has managed in excess of 10,000 combined Police, School Board and Public Official Liability Claims.

Summit Risk Services is comprised of experienced claims professionals who specialize in Public Entity Professional Liability Claims Management.  Our partnership will incorporate proactive litigation management, aggressive resolution techniques, claims expertise and superior information technology. This partnership will serve to provide the Trust with exceptional results and the highest level of service.

SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT

A comprehensive safety management program is provided to all members, including job hazard analysis, drug-free workplace policies, and educational training assistance.

UNDERWRITING

Eligibility is open to municipalities, counties, special districts, public school boards, and charter schools.

Program options include guaranteed cost, deductibles, self-insureds retention, and basket aggregate products.

Competitive premium discounts are available based on favorable experience.

Quarterly self-reporting of payroll eliminates the risk of large final premium adjustments.
